ATTITUDE TO ARMS.

BRITISH LABOUR PARTY.

LONDON, Oct. 3,

The Labour Party executive, to overcome its arms policy dilemma, is drafting a resolution for the impending Edinburgh conference, declaring that the armed strength of countries loyal to the League must be governed by the armed strength of a potential aggressor. Therefore it reaffirms its policy in favour of maintaining forces consistent with Britain’s responsibilities as a member of the League, but declines responsibility for a competitive armaments policy. PRIVATE MANUFACTURE. (British Official Wireless.) Received October 5, 11.5 a.m. RUGBY, Oct. 3. The resolution on defence armaments tabled by the National Executive of the Labour Party for discussion at the conference at Edinburgh adds that the conference declares that the continuance of vested interests in the private manufacture of arms will be a grave contributory danger to the peace of the world.
