FALL INTO HARBOUR.

ELDERLY MAN’S DEATH. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON. Sept. 14. Brought to land in a comatose condition after be had been struggling in the harbour for a short time near Aotea Quay, about 5 p.m. yesterday, Michael Joseph Curran, aged 69, an inmate of Ohiro Home, died without regaining consciousness. He was a single man and a native of Ireland, but had been in New Zealand about 15 years. He is believed to have fallen over Aotea Quay, and his head bore injuries consistent with his having struck part of the wharf in his fall. Artificial respiration was applied but without avail. A young man James Rewi Dunne, a member of the crew of H.M.S. Achilles, stripped and despite the cold dived into the harbour, bringing Curran to the wharf.
