APPEAL TO GOVERNMENT. Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Sept. 14. At a largely attended meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Fruit Growers’ Association to consider matters in connection with the suggested awards for orchard employees, the following resolution was carried unanimously: “That the fruit growers, being desirous of extending to their employees the benefits of the recent legislation with regard to wages and other conditions of labour, which at present they are unable to do because of the unsatisfactory financial position of the industry as a result of low prices both overseas and locally, the Government be requested to take immediate steps to ensure that the fruit growers are placed in the position of so doing.”
