RANGITIKEI.
MARTON, Sept. 13. Ideal weather prevailed on Saturday for the 7-mile road race conducted by the Marton Harrier Club for a cup donated by Mr W. M. Archibald. J. Taylor and F. Williams, off the limit of 9 minutes, ran well and led the field over the whole distance, the former gaining a popular win. F. Hill once again secured fastest time of 37 min. lOsec., and finished fourth. The placings were as follow: —J. Taylor (9 min.) 1; F. Williams (9min.), 2; D. Maopherson (7.55), 3; F. Hill (scr), 4; G. Bromley (15sec), 5; W. Edge (1.15), 6; A. Gorrie (5.55), 7; E. Hegglun (5.30), 8; M. Griffin (3min.). 9; D. Smith (20sec.), 10; L. Smith (lmin.), 11; A. Holden (3.20), 12. On Sunday evening the service in the Marton ‘Presbyterian Church was conducted by Rev. W. Morton Ryburn, M.A., who is the missionary representative in India of the New Zealand Presbyterian Young Men’s Bible Class Union.
A meeting of the Marton A. and P. Association was held on Saturday evening, Mr E. Gudopp presided. Officials and committees were elected in connection with the annual show.
