A RECIPE.
MELTAWAY MIXTURE
Melt 2 tablespoons each of butter and sugar; when melted add 2 tablespoons milk and 1 egg. Mix well and add cups self-raising flour. This mixture can be used in a number of ways, and always gives good- results. Small Tarts.—Line patty tin with mixture, and fill with jam or lemon butter.
Date Slice.—Put a layer of meltaway mixture in a baking dish, and fill with this mixture, 1 cup stoned dates, i cup sugar, £ cup water boiled together; cover with another lave l ' of meltaway mixture, and bake. When cold cut in squares and on the top of the mould.
