(From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Sept. 14. Air J. E. Walker, chairman of Bulls Town Board, presided over a meeting of twenty-two retailers, hold in the Town Hall supper room on Friday night, when an animated discussion ensued regarding tho day of the weekly half-holiday in Bulls. In his opening remarks Air Walker said that the statutory half-holiday was fixed in January each year, a special meeting of townspeople being called lor that purpose,• and Wcdnesdav had been decided on at the last meeting. 'Whatever recommendations this meeting had, they were not binding until approved by tho Labour Department, but an expression of opinion icgarding tlie merits of Wednesday and Saturday would be useful. A long discussion ensued, when advocates of each day gave their views. Finally Air F. A. Holland moved: “That tho tnatter of making a change in the weekly half-holiday bo deferred until January, when the statutory half-holiday for the year will be decided.” Air G. 11. Archer seconded the motion. Air W. Dean moved an amendment: “That the statutory half-holiday be changed from W’edncsday to Saturday.” This was seconded by Air D. Af. O’Connell. On the amendment being put, it was lest, only four voting for it. Mr Holland’s motion was then put and carried. Before dispersing, a discussion took place regarding the Christmas carnival,. tho project being taken up with enthusiasm and £7 being subscribed in the room. Sliooting in dull weather, with a light north-easterly wind, members of the Defence Rifle ' Club registered fine scores on Saturday afternoon. The ranges fired over were 303, 500 and 600 yds, and Ken. Lumsdcn put on 104 out of the possible of 105. H. Meads (102) and A. Stevenson (100) also scored well. Details are as follow : —lv.
