TWO KILLED

CAR LEAVES ROADWAY. TRAGEDY. IN RAIN. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 19. Two men were killed and two others were injured in a motor accident which occurred on the Main South Hoad about a mile north of Ohinewai, at 11 o’clock last night. The victims were:--KILLED. GEORGE BLANK, aged 46, labourer, of Papakura. EDGAR NEVILLE MOXSOM, aged 32, labourer, married, of Ponsonby. INJURED. Keith Robert Bremner, aged 45, lorry-driver, widower, of Drury. Severe concussion and bruises; condition fairly serious. Hugh Prince, aged 50, labourer, widower, of Te Kawa. Cut hand and shock; condition not serious. The four men, who were employed by AV. S. Gooscman and Company, road contractors, at Te Kawa, near Te Awamutu, were travelling in a tlireeseater roadster. which was being driven to Auckland by Bremner. They were all in one seat, Prince sitting on Moxsom’s knee. Torrential rain was falling at the time, and as the car approached a bend in the road, the left-hand front tyre blew out. The vehicle left the roadway and proceeded for 150 feet along the side of the road and fell into a depression four feet deep. It turned completely round and capsized. All tiie occupants were pinned under the car, but Prince managed to work himself free aud called for help. Blank and Moxsom had their necks broken and died instantaneously. Passing motorists heard Prince’s cries, and the car was righted and the occupants extricated.

Dr Jameson, of Huntly, and the police, were called, and the bodies were removed to Huntly. Bremner was taken in an ambulance to the Waikato Hospital, but Prince did not require hospital treatment.
