RAINFALL RECORDS.
SIX MONTHS’ PERIOD. Though there lias been comparatively little rainfall at Palmerston North during the past two months, the total for tho half-year ended on June 30 is only 3.41 inches less than for the first half of 1935. May was a very light month, for rainfall, but, on the other hand, January and February were abnormal, 12.07 inches, or over half tho total rainfall for the six months’ period, being recorded in the first two months of the year.
During the six nonths of this year, 22.30 inches of rain fell on 67 days, compared with 25.71 inches on 77 days in the corresponding period of 1935. Figures for the past six months are as follow :—January, 4.06 inches; February, 8.01 inches; March, 2.77 inches; April, 3.35 inches; May, 1.32 inches; June, 2.79 inches.
