ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the council of the Feilding and District Ac- j climatisation Society was held last evening, Mr F. H. Stockwell presiding. Others present were Messrs 1 . P. Stevens, W. J. Alpe, G. E. Dsuirenee, D. McKay, E. G. Fraser, -V Itosoman, W. E. Barnett, 'I. Burn, and C. J. Wickham (secretary) Apologies for absence were received from Messrs G. E. Lintott and E. Ingram. Several applications lor licenses to trap opossums were received, but owin'* to the fact that this year the society had decided not to grant permits for opossum trapping, the applications wero not granted. A letter was received from the Rangawahia sub-connnittec drawing attention to the existence of a dam in the Mangawharahikc main stream, which prevented fish from proceeding up the stream. It was decided that j the secretary write to the Mangaweka Town Board requesting that the dam ho destroyed. With the object of creating keener interest in the district, and in order to get in closer touch with licenseholders, it was decided that the next meeting of the council be held at Rangiwahia. It- was stated that the season for imported game such as pheasants, quail, etc., would close at the end of the present month. A number of accounts were passed for payment.
