NUT RINGS FOR TEA
Nut rings make a delicious addition to the afternoon tea menu. And they are just as wholesome as they are good to eat —and simple to make (states an Australian writer). Any kind of chopped nuts can be used, or a mixture if you prefer it. A r ou will need to allow 6oz. to lib of flour, which will make a good quantity of “rigs.” Rub 4oz. of blitter into the flour, with which a teaspoonful of baking powder has been sifted, add 4oz of brown sugar, two teaspoonsfuls of ground ginger, a dust of nutmeg. and the chopped nuts. AVarm two tablespoon fills of golden syrup, stir in a well-beaten egg, and with a little milk add to the dry ingredients to form a smooth paste. Roll out, cut into rings, and brush over the tops with beaten egg. Bake in a moderate oven. '
