WOMEN’S INSTITUTES.
BUNNYTHORPE BRANCH
The monthly meeting of the Bunnythorpe Women’s Institute was held on Wednesday, July 8, when there was a fair attendance of members. Visitors were welcomed, also a new member, Airs Tomlinson. Correspondence was dealt with, after which a motion of sympathy was passed with Alosdaines Jeffries (2) and Little in their bereavements. So as to enable the institute to send a delegate to the Dunedin coiilerence it was decided to hold a card afternoon in tile hall. Members were reminded of the drama festival to be held in Palmerston North on July 24. All interestng demonstration on seagruss stool making was given by Air's Purton, of Newbury, and this was followed keenly by all present. A vote of thanks was passed to Airs Purton. At the August meeting the junior members are to entertain tlie senior members, so an enjoyable afternoon is expected. There will not he a competition at that meeting. The competition for shortbread lor the seniors last Wednesday was won by Mrs Woods, Airs Donald being second. The novelty bouquet competition for seniors resulted : Mrs Wiggins I_, Airs Guard 2. The competition for juniors, the best plate of scones, saw Miss J. Sinclair secure first and second prizes. Afternoon tea was served, bringing an enjoyable meeting to a close. The hostesses for tiie August meeting will be Mesdames Pedersen, Guy, Jepson, and Alisses D. Thomas and N. Wood.
