HOUSE OF LORDS.
OVERTURES FOR REFORM. PREMIER NON-COMMITTAL. (British Official Wireless.) Received July 14. 12.10 p.m. RUGBY. July 13. This afternoon, in the House of Commons, the Prime Minister (Mr. Baldwin) received joint deputations from both Houses of Parliament ivhich urged tlie importance or leioiin of the House of Lords during the lifetime of the present Parliament. About 150 members of both Houses attended and the speakers on behalf of the deputation included Lord batisbury and Sir Robert Horne. Mr Baldwin, in reply, stated that, owing to the grave problems which now occupied the whole attention o the Government, pressure on 1 arliamentarv time, and lack of agreement on the matter throughout all sections of the National Government, he could not promise that the Government would initiate any legislation.
