FREE AMBULANCE.
DEPUTATION TO KAIRANGA COUNCIL. Mr 0. L. Turnbull, superintcndentsacretary of the Palmerston North Free Ambulance, waited on the Kaira, nga County Council, to-day, with reference to the Free Ambulance service. . Mr Turnbull quoted cases in wlncli the Free Ambulance had been of service, and stated the aim of his association in linking up with other districts. It was a non-political, nonreligious body and was not affected by colour or creed, he said. In answer lo a question, Mr Turnhull said lie was not asking that day for the county’s financial support, though that was desirable, but he did want their moral support. His request was that the council agree to a conference comprising the Hospital Board and all contributing bodies. After Mr Turnbull had retired, Cr W. G. Shannon moved that the council agree to the conference being held. The chairman (Cr D. Collis) said that if they were going to agree to the conference it wua no good discussing the matter. “There is no doubt about it,” lie said, “the Free Ambulance lias done a wonderful work.”
Other members agreed, and tlie motion was carried.
