PERSONAL.
The Governor-General and Lady Galway will leave Auckland on Wednesday morning to pay an official visit to Cambridge, subsequently proceeding to Rotorua. On Thursday Their Excellencies will leave for Hastings, and on Monday will continue their journey to Wellington, where they will go into residence for the duration of the Parliamentary session. His Honour Air Justice Blair will, it is understood, preside over the quarterly session of the Supreme Court which opens at Palmerston North next week.
Air Hamilton Dickson, AVolliiigton, has been appointed adjudicator lor the vocal and instrumental sections at the Napier Competitions Society's festival to be held next Easter. Air 11. E. Toogood, consulting engineer of AVellington, arrived in Palmerston North to-day. Air 3oogood has been engaged by the Palmerston North City Council to prepare a further report oil the possibilities of developing the Tiritea watershed. He submitted a report to the council on this matter some years ago.
At to-day’s meeting of the Kairanga County Couno.l the chairman (Cr. D. Coin’s) warmly welcomed. Cr. IN. P. Nielsen, who was recently elected a member of the council by tlie ratepayers of the Taonui riding to fill the vacancy caused by the death oi Cr. A. AV. Hamlin. Cr. Collis said lie was certain that Cr. j .e.sen s services would be of value to Hie county.
