AREA EXTENDED.
BUILDING IN BRICK. CITY COUNCIL DECISION. A special meeting of the Palmerston North City Council was held last evening to confirm an amendment to tho by-laws relating to the extension and enlargement of the inner area, in which the erection of wooden buildings is not permitted. The Aluyor (Air A. E, Alansford) presided, others present being Crs. W. B. Cameron, R. L. C. Aitchison, J. J. Stevenson, J. T. J. Heatley, A. A. Langley and AV. Monldey. | Tho effect of this is to extend the brick area along the whole length of Taonui Street, and back half the depth to Lombard Street. The resolution, which brings this into operation on July 27, was confirmed on the motion of the Mayor, | seconded by Cr. Stevenson.
