The report and balance-sheet, were presented by tho secretary (Mr A. Trenkner), as follows: “Tho year has been a very successful one. Two shows were hold. The Bulb Show had a credit balance of £3 12s 3d, as compared with £l. 16s 3d last year; tho entry fees were £6 Is 9d, against £5 11s 9d. The blooms were of a very fine quality. All members of the committee will bo pleased with his success, as Air Glovn lias given many years of useful work to the society. Thanks arc again due to Mr D. Rowe for arranging the concert. Thanks are also due to Air J. Linklator and Mr W. E. Barber for attending and opening the shows, to the judges and stewards, tho supporters for donations, and the ladies.” The credit balance, after paying for the secretary and accounts, will bo £lO 5s 10d, as compared with £9 9s Id in tho previous year. 'Hie report was favourably received, as it revealed that the two recent shews had been the best hold for some years past, as was also the financial statement, justifying tho society in its new venture of a fixed honorarium for the secretary. Tlie president thanked the secretary, his assistants, and all members of tiie committee for their co-operation; also the judges and donors of prizes and all who had assisted to achieve such good results. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr C. L. Hunter, AI.V.; president, Airs Will (reelected); vico-proskleiit, Air L. Sparrow; secretary and treasurer, Aliss Sparrow; committee, Alesdamos A. Burgess, T. Collins, W. Read, W. Samlcrcork, M. Bower, W. A. Davison, L. Yarrall, C. W. Davison, IT. E. Fieklhouso, A. N. Morcom, - F. Thompson, Misses Al. Arnett, A. Fraser, L. Glover, At. Wil, A. Buchanan, P. Gloyn, L. Glover, Al. Will, A. Buchanan, P. Gloyn, A. Simonson, J. F. Thompson, A. S. Pcdlev, A. N. Aforeoin, L. IT. Yarrall, R. Gloyn, 11. Rowe and D. Rowe. A now departure in flic society’s working was adopted on the motion of Air Aloreom, for this year, byt the election of a management committee from the general coimnrilee. who will attend to the necessary details between tho shows. It was stated that many loyal committee members who did their utmost to help on show days found it difficult to attend committee meetings, and who at the same time were prepared to leave details to a select committee. It was stated this would make for simpler working, and assist the president and secretary. The following wore elected: Alcsdames W. Davison and L. Yarrall, Aliases Glover and Will, Alcssrs 11. and D. Rowe, Aloreom, Glover and Yarrall. The society suffered the loss during the year of a most valuable worker in tlie person of Airs N. Hogg, to whom Hindi sympathy was extended in the loss of her husband. A very pleasing feature of the meeting was the kindly references made to the long and valued service given to the society by Air and Airs Sanclcrccek. Almost since tlie inception of the society, over 23 years ago, Airs Sandcreock, in particular, has been a consistent committee member, and, though not in later years enjoying good health, she has endeavoured to bo pr'esent and in many ways has helped the society. It was unanimously thought fitting, as a token of goodwill, that they he elected life members of the society. The Bulb Show was fixed for September 15, and already word is to hand of outside exhibitors intending to be present. After various matters of interest, had been informally discussed and' encouraging reports of help premised, the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to tlie chair.
