SUSPECTED POACHER.
JAPANESE CRAFT ARRESTED
Received Julv 13. 11.15 a.m. SYDNEY, July 13.
A message from Noumea states that n Japanese vessel suspected of poaching was chased l>v the motor ketch Caledonian near Yate for 90 minutes. It was finally caught and boarded. Six natives armed with tomahawks and spears were put aboard and the vessel was tewed to Noumea, where it was detained by the Customs authorities.. A fine will probably be imposed or. the Japanese. The vessel is of 30 tons, with a crew of 22 Japanese. Seventy up-to-date charts of various Pacific islands were found on board.
