MARKET HARDENS,
RUSSIANS BUYING
Messrs "Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams. Ltd., report having received the following cabled advice from their London house regarding the London wool sales:—The wool sales were continued before an average attendance of buyers. The market remains unchanged, if anything, a little firmer. We quote the following average realisations: —Greasy' Merino, 60-64, yielding 48 per cent., ]2iUl ; fine halfhred, 56-58. 62 per cent., 13£d ; halfhred, 50-56, 68 per cent.. 10.fd ; -threequarter-bred, 48-50. 7_4 per cent., 83d ; fine crossbred, 46-48, 75 per cent., B£d; medium, 44-46. 75 per cent., SRI; crossbred. 40-44, 76 per cent., B£d ; coarse, .36-40, 76 per cent., 8d; crossbred lambs, 46-50 . 74 per cent., 10R1. The market is firm for Australian Merino. There is some Russian buying of medium crossbred wool.
Tho Bank of New South Wales has received the following cable message from its London office dated July 10: Since the opening competition has improved. especially from the Continent, and prices have hardened for all qualities with exception of slines. Average or estimated prices of New Zealand greasy fleece ordinary topmaking wools: Merino, GO-64, 12U1; fine halfhred, 56-58, 13R1; halfhred. 50-56. 10Id; thrcequnrter-bred, 48-50, 8-Jd; fine crossbred, 46-48, Sid; medium, 44-46, BJd ; crossbred. 40-44, BRI. The Bank of New Zealand (produce department) has received the following advice from its London office under date July 10:—The market is firmer, especially' for greasy crossbreds for which prices have more than recovered the opening decline. Current quotations. Merinos: Super, 00-64’s, IBfrl to 17d per lb; Merino, ordinary, 60-64’s, 14d to 15d ; inferior, 60-64’s. ll£d to 12d. Halfhrcds: 56-58’s. 13id to 14d; 56’s, 12d to 13d; 50-56’s, lOkl to lid. Crossbreds. 50’s, 9RI to 10d; 48-50 s, 9d to Old ; 46-48’s. BRI to to 83d; 44-46’s, BJd to 8?d : 40-44’s, B}d to 83d; 36-40’s, SRI to B£d.
