BOROUGH COUNCIL. , WUODVII.r.E, July 10. Tho monthly moeti.g oi tlie Borough Council was nold last evening- when tne deputy-Mayor (ur. 11. Guiuraith) was in the euuir. The Daunavirkc Bower Board forwarded copies ot the new street lighting- agreement covering a term of live* years, the terms uid conditions being similar to those in tne last agicement. The report was held over .penning the receipt ot further information. In view of the increasing burden that is being placed on ioeal bodies through hospital board levies, the i’eui.’o Borougn Council wrote stating that there was a growing opinion that the time had come when the incidence oi tne maintenance of such hoards should be altered. They recommitaied that support be given a rcsoluation passed at llieir last meeting that hospital board administration should be reviewed as an urgent matter, and that tho Municipal Association make representations to the Gove nment. The clerk said that the borough’s share of the Hospital Board levy had been increased by £52 this year. Councillors resolved that the council support the Botcuo Council** resolution.
