LONGRURN.

(From Our Own Correspondent..) LONGBURX, July 10. On Tuesday evening the Lmgburn Sports and Pastimes Club accorded a farewell social to Mr and Mrs F. Murray, who are shortly leaving to reside in Wellington. During the period in which he has occupied the position of club secretary Mr Murray has worked energetically and unselfishly for the general advantage of the club. The programme began with a, short dance programme. The music was supplied by Mrs Grace and Miss M. Oliver. Prizes for two Monte Carlo dances were won by Miss M. Oliver and partner, end Mrs Holland and partner. A pleasant interlude was a rousing song- rendered by local boys who exerted their vocal powers to the utmost. A very welcome visitor, and an asset to the function was Mr G. Bay, who organised several interesting games and competitions. Competitions were won by Mrs Bay, o Ilelcnsville, Mr J. Johansen and Mr J. Holland. During supper Mr D. Aldersley addressed Mr Murray on behalf of the club. Ho said ho regretted tho inevitable departure of one 'who had executed his duty to the ‘satisfaction of all and whose love of fair play was well-1 nown. Mr Aldersley then made a presentation on behalf of the club, the gift being a fine leather attache case. Mr Murray, in reply, stated that his association with the club was one Of great pleasure. Apologies for absence were received frem the president and vice-president (Mr Cullesco and Mr Birch).
