HITLER’S REPLY
TO BRITISH NOTE. OLD OFFER REPEATED. STILL NO DETAILS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received July 3, 8.5 a.m. BERLIN, July 2. Germany is unfavourably impressed with Mr Eden’s and M. Blum's speeches. The Press unanimously condemns their suggestions of League reform. It is understood that Herr Hitler’s reply to the British questionnaire repeats the offer of a Western Security Pact and mentions the difficulties of including Russia. It is indicated that Germany is unprepared to commit herself to details in view of the uncertainties of British foreign policy. LOCARNO POWERS. MEETING TO BE HELD. (British Official Wireless.) Received July 3. 11.35 a.m. RUGBY, July 2. There seems a probability that as a result of private conversations at Geneva between the British, French, and Brazilian delegates, a meeting of the Locarno Powers will take place towards the end of the month, possibly in Brussels. At the last meeting it was decided that the Powers meet again after a reply had been received to the questions addressed to Berlin by the British Government upon certain points of Ilerr Hitler’s proposals. Even in the continued absence of such a reply it is considered in some quarters that a meeting in a few weeks’ time should, nevertheless, take place to consider the situation.
