STOCK REMEDIES ACT

AMENDMENT SOUGHT. v WELLINGTON, July 2. The conference of the Royal Agricultural Society carried a remit from the Feilding Agricultural and Pastoral Association requesting the Government to amend the Stock Remedies Act to provide for representation of the Royal Agricultural Society or the New Zealand Farmers’ Union on the Stock Remedies Registration Board. It was also considered that the Act should be amended so that in the case of mineral licks the purchaser would be provided with a certificate showing not only the analysis of the lick hut also the names of the ingredients and the proportion of each. The introduction of legislation providing for the control of the sale of stock foods was advocated in another remit from the Feilding association. It was urged that the puchaser should receive with the invoice a certificate setting forth the names of the several ingredients and the proportion of each. Sir William Hunt said that in every country that used concentrated stock foods extensively, such as Great Britain and Denmark, there were regulations in force requiring the information asked for in the remit to be disclosed. A similar remit on the agenda paper from the New Zealand Pig Breeders’ Association was withdrawn by its delegate, Mr K. S. Glendinning. He said that the introduction of a Stock Foods Bill was necessary, and his association felt that such a measure should be hurried along. The remit was carried.
