CONTROL OF DRAINAGE.
SLUGGISH RIVER BOARD. A meeting of the Sluggish River Board was held yesterday. Trustee F. J. Foster presiding. Also present were Trustees M. J. Rvan. E C. Print. A. N. Morcom. W. H. Gimblett and the overseer (Mr W. Locke). It was reported that nil the drain works tendered for had been passed by the overseer. The overseer’s report stated that since the last meeting the rail wav drain had been completed and grass,had been cleared a wav from tho trees and holes dug ready for the others on the Sluggish Creek. Work 011 the-deepen-ing of Taikorea drain had been advanced 10 chains. Walsh’s drain. Longburn Road, Soldier. Bodd.v’s and Milligan drains had been passed, as satisfactorily cleaned. - A tentative balance-sheet supplied bv the secretary (Mr R. H. Spencer) allowed that the finances of the board were in a good position. 1
