“HABIT BECOMES A MANIA.” Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 2. The theft of goods belonging to the firm which employed him was admitted by a storeman-janitor, George Patrick aged 34, in the Police Court this-morning,, lie pleading guilty to stealing a radio set valued at £ll and accessories valued at £B9, the propel cy of Motor Specialities, Ltd. - The police said the property was all neatly stored under accused s In a statement accused said that in the first instance he placed the radio 6et in ail empty case which he was taking home and thereafter occasionally he took accessories. “The habit ot taking things grew until it became a mania,” lie said. Replying to counsel’s application tor •a renewal of £IOO bad, Mr AA. R. McKean, S.M., said he did not know whether he should comply. 1 atrick, in a position of trust, had stolen over a long period; it was not a case of sudden impulse. However, he agreed to renew hail.
