OFFENCES AT FEILDING.

TWELVE MONTHS’ GAOL

Two charges were preferred agaiiist Basil Tui Bishop, labourer, aged 23, of no fixed abode, when ho appeared before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., m the Magistrate’s Court at Palmerston North yesterday. Accused pleaded guilty to the following charges : —That on March 13, at Feilding, lie stole two rings, one cheque form and 7s in cash, the total value being £l6 7s 2d, the property of William Henry Haynes; and that on March 13, with intent to defraud, he obtained from Harry Louis Simson two pairs of socks, one pair of trousers and £6 Is 7d in money by means of a valueless cheque.

Detective-Sergeant Bickerdike said that accused had a long list of previous convictions, lie had been released from prison oil license, and the day the period expired lie left his employment in Palmerston North, proceeding to Feilding, where he committed the offences. He was a good worker, but had suffered an injury when a boy. He was at present serving a six months’ sentence on a warrant lor maintenance. - Accused was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment oil eacli charge, the terms to he cumulative on each other and on his present sentence.
