COLYTON FUNCTION. (From Our Own Correspondent.) COLYTON, June 18. Mrs W. W. Shortall was hostess at an enjoyable social evening held on Wednesday under the auspices of the Colyton branch of the Feilding Plunkot. Society. “Woodlands.” the home of Mrs Shortall. lends itself ideally for. such a function and on this occasion was beautifully dc-..a.-nted -■ "’ti iwcs and ivo"v chrysanthemums. The spacious drawing-room had oven cleared lor dancing, and the breakfast and billiard rooms made cosy with cheery log fires for non-dancers. Being a typical w-intcr night, a number of apologies for absence were received, hut all those who braved the elements felt themselves well recompensed, for the function was indeed an enjoyable one. Music for the dancing was supplied by Mr J. Crook, extra dances being played by Mrs W. Shortall and Miss V. Viles. A number of interesting competitions were held, the winners being Mrs D. Shortall, Mrs R. W. Buchanan. Miss W. Wales, and Messrs B. Shortall, L. Thurston, and R. W. Buchanan. After the singing of “Auld Lang Syne,” three hearty cheers for Mr and Airs Shortall and Mr E. Shortall, who also assisted in entertaining the guests, brought a pleasant evening to a close. Airs Shortall received her guests wearing a smart gown of black lace and georgette with velvet coatee.
