AFRICAN PROTECTORATES.
BRITISH POLICY UNCHANGED. (British Official Wireless.) Received June 18, 1.10 p.m. RUGBY, June 17. The position of the South African protectorates u r as the subject of a Parliamentary reply by the Under-Sec-retarv for the Dominions (Lord Harlington), who recalled the aide memoiro published after the conversations between the Dominions Secretary and tire Prime Minister of the Union, last year, which stated that the policy of both the United Kingdom and the Union Governments for tho next few years should be directed to bringing about a situation in which, if a transfer were to become a matter of practical politics, it could be effected with the full acquiescence of the populations concerned.
Lord Harlington added: This still represents the policy of the Government. here, and I have nothing to add to that statement.
