FEILDING

AFTERNOON WEDDING. RINK—HINKS. The Methodist Church, Feilding, was prettily decorated with autumn flowers and foliage tor the marriage of Alberta, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs H. J. Hinks, of Manchester Street, Feilding,' to Basil, third son of the late Mr and Mrs F. Rinks, Makino Road, Feilding, Rev. J. 11. Alien officiated, and Mr Crump presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church escorted by her father, made a charming picture in her gown of ivory satin riche, cut on classical lines with a slight train. The neckline was draped into a cowl with a lace inset fastened at the backj with covered satin buttons, which reached to the waistline. Her tulle veil, which was iriade and embroidered by her sister, Miss I. E. Hinks (Pahiatua), was worn well off the face, and fell to form a long train, from a coronet of orange blossom. Ivory velvet slippers, and a bouquet of white heath, double stock, gypsophila, and maiden-hair fern completed a very dainty toilette. Two bridesmaids attended the bride —Miss Eileen Robinson (Foxton), chief, and Miss Hazel Pearcey (Pahiatua), cousin of the bride. A very girlish frock was worn by Miss Robinson of forget-me-not blue crepe-de-chine made on slim fitting lines with a shirred square neck line and puff sleeves. The skirt had a shirred paiiel back and front. Blue shoes, a blue and silver head-dress, and a bouquet of blue and white daisies, statice, gypsophila and maiden-hair fern completed the toilette. Miss Pearcey wore a dainty frock of blue crepe-de-chine, made on similar lines to "that of Miss Robinson's, and carried a bouquet of daisies, statice, and greenery. Blue shoes and a silver and blue head-dress completed her toilette. Mrs Pearcey (Pahiatua), counsin of the bride, made and presented all the bouquets. Mr Earl Hinks (brother of the bride) was best man, and Mr Leslie Rink (brother of the bridegroom) was groomsman. The recption 'was held in the W.D.F.U. rooms where Mrs Hinks, assisted by Mrs Franco, of Feilding (aunt of the bridegroom), received the guests. Mrs Hinks chose a light navy fancy crepe, with brown coat, hat, and shoes to tone, and carried a posy of autumn tinted flowers and maiden-hair fern. Mrs Franco was becomingly attired in black, with coat, hat, and shoes to match, and carried a posy ot vellow and gold flowers. The beautiful two-tiered wedding cake was iced and decorated by a friend of the bride, Miss Thelma Ward, of Feilding. When Mr and Mrs B. Rink left lor their honeymoon, which is being spent in the south, Mrs Rink was wearing a smartly tailored tweed costume, with hat and accessories to tone. She carried a nigger brown face cloth coat, trimmed with a large fur collar. The young cohple were the recipients ot many beautiful presents. The Oroua River was running high yesterday morning as a result of heavy o rain on Tuesday, but no flooding was reported in the vicinitv of Feilding. Mr J. Avery, a dairy farmer on Boness's Road, Awahuri, stated that although the river is high the banks have not broken away and he did not anticipate an inundation of property adjacent to the river. The planting of willows and the erection of a stopbank three feet six inches high on the Kawa Kawa side of the river for a distance of 56 chains have proved beneficial and with the removal of obstructions from the centre of the river danger from flooding has been considerably lessened. PERSONAL. Miss G. Thompson, of Ngaruawahia, will arrive this week to take up her duties as Plunket nurse here. NOTEsT It was learned yesterday that another garage had been broken into during the week-end, but fortunately there were no vehicles parked in it and the efforts "of the intruder or intruders were in vain. As already reported, the car which was removed from the New Zealand Farmers' Coop, garage has been recovered. On Tuesday evening members of the Kiwitca Lodge held their fortnightly dance in the Oddfellows' Hall, when there was a fair attendance. Music was supplied by an orchestra, while Mr T. Austin played the extras. Mr M. Sim carried out the duties of M.C. Supper was served by the committee.
