INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL.
PROPOSAL FOR CITY. VIEWS OF HTGH SCHOOLS’ BOARD. The proposal to establish in Palmerston North an intermediate school, which has been discussed from time to time, was'briefly considered, last evening, by the High Schools Board of Governors, when Air W. It. Birnie tabled a resolution claiming participation by the board in any future discussions. The terms of Air Bifnie’s resolution were as follow:—“That the Minister of Education be respectfully requested to defer any decision as to" the establish - ment of an intermediate school in Palmerston North pending the results being known of the enquiries into the whole matter irom the Dominion standpoint; that the Alinister be informed that this board would willingly fall in with any method of establishing and controlling intermediate schools which the Alinister might decide to apply universally throughout the Dominion, hut that, in the event of different mothods of establishing and controlling being permitted, the board would appreciate the opportunity of placing its views before the Minister prior to any decision being made as to Palmerston North; that’ the correspondence between the board and the department, dating from 1925, be brought before Alinister with this resolution.” “1 think it would be a pity to ag in let the matter go forward without the hoard pressing it,” observed Air Birnie.
Air A J. Graham seconded the motion, which was carried without comment.
