REPERTORY SOCIETY
“VICEROY SARAH.” On Friday last a staged reading of “Viceroy Sarah,” by . Norman G.nsbury, was presented m the Empire Hall under the very capable direction of Mrs L. Bale. Thus very hue historical play portrays the politico intrigue of the period of Queen Anne when Sarah, Duchess of Marlborough, was the real ruler of England. However despite the Duke of -Marlborough’s brilliant military successes m the Netherlands, Mrs Masham and the anti-war party at home finally succeeded in inducing the easily-led Queen to recall the Dule and complete the downfall of Viceroy Sarah. Mrs Bale and the cast are to be congratulated on a most successful rendering of a play which presented many difficulties. There was a good attendance of members and the cast was as follows: Abigail. Hdl (after - wards Mrs Masham), Miss Ulu Hancock ; Mrs Danvers (waiting woman) Mrs Squires; Anne, Queen of England (Mrs Morley), Mrs Gorman; Sarah, Duchess of Marlborough (Mrs Freeman), Miss W.
