ACORN LODGE OF DRUIDS.
Arch Druid Bro. Bowler presided over a good attendance of the Acorn Lodge at the half-yearly meeting, held ill the Coronation Hall, Terrace End. The balance-sheet for the half-year was read by the secretary and adopted. An invitation was received to attend the next meeting of the Pahiatua Lodge, and accepted. Brothers were reminded of the bowls competition to he played at the Oddfellows’ Hall. This being installation night, the District 1 resident, Bro. Drake, attended in his official capacity and, with the assistance of Bro. Bailey, AI.C., installed the officers for the ensuing term in a very efficient manner. The A.D., Bro. Cappoll, conveyed thanks to the lodge on behalf of liis brother officers and himself for the honour that had been done them. Bro. Ayers was presented with his P A. collar, diploma and case by the District President and thanked the lodge with a few well chosen words. Bro. Hansen reported attending the Dispensary Board and Bro. Bowler the Oroua Lodge installation ceremony. Bro. Richardson reported upon the game of o»*ibbage against the Orient Lodge which was won by Acorn Lodge by a very narrow margin. Bro. Bowler informed members that he had attended the Alakino Lodge meeting, held Tn honour of their auditor, who had given thirty years’ continuous service. A reso'ution by notice of motion, moved by Bros. Hughes and Richardson. dealing with Royal Arch Chapter matters, was dealt with and a very long discussion took place. P.A. Bro. Bennett referred to a letter he had received from P.A. Bro. Carter, in which it was stated that a brother passing through the chair for a second time was to receive a jewel. The secretary was instructed by the lodge to write to Grand Lodge with reference to the matter. The A.D. was congratulated on the efficient and businesslike manner in which he had conducted the meeting. The visiting lodges were Lind and Oroua, and Bro. Dunn (Dargaville Lodge). A vote of thanks was conveyed to the visitors and the meeting adjourned. Supper was served by the stewards and games of cards terminated the evening.
