MANAWATU HUNT.
Under ideal weather conditions on Saturday last the hounds met at Cheltenham, the throw-off being on the Bruce Estate nearby. A hare was finally raised and took the field over the boundary on to Mr Johnstons property, only to be lost on the riverbed Several more hares were put up but the scent was poor. Later the field and onlookers returned to be hospitably entertained bv the master and his wife, Mr and Mrs S. G. Perry, at afternoon tea. Those following were: Dr. b.. J. Thompson (president), Jolly .Jack; Mi S G. Perry (master), Sam; Mr J. J. Waller (huntsman), Broadway; Mr W. E P Taylor (lion, whip), The Dauphin;' Mr S. J. Shand (lion. whip). Handyman ; Mrs Johns ton, Jorrocks , Mrs W. Taylor. Ranger; Miss Hells. Garry Owen; Miss It. Perry, \\aitaunaha; Miss D. Perry. Caro: Miss K. Bowman, Night Runner; Mrs B. Salmon, Lad o’ M ine ; Mr L. H. Coll insoil, ITinetori; Mr Jones, Joe; Mr I*. S. Mcßetli, Riotous; Mr B. Collis, Canberra ; Mr T. R. Taylor, Echo; Mr G. Shannon, Tiger Bill; and others.
