RONGOTEA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTEA May 15. The Rongotea Methodist Church Choir arranged a kitchen evening on Thursday in .honour o£ Miss Ruth I'osier, who is to be married this month. lhe Sunday School Ilail was gaily decorated for tho occasion, and there was a large assemblage of friends, who joined in games. An amusing paper-tearing competition was w.u by Mr M. Huddleston. Songs were rendered by Mrs A. Sanson, and Mr J. Peacock. Later ill the evening Rev-. R. E. Fordyce called m Miss Foster, and her fiance, Mr W. Johnston, to open the numerous parcels, which were found to contain an assortment of' useful gifts. Miss Foster tin • iked her well-wishers, and expressed her gratitude to those who had taken such trouble with the decorations, and other details, which had made the evening so bright and enjoyable. Mr Johnston also responded. Supper .was servod mil, in concluding, the Benediction was pronounced. A children’s afternoon party arranged by the local Women’s Institute was held in tho Cormation Hall this afternoon. The various games were entered into by the young folks with u zest that loft no doubt about tho way they enjoyed themselves. The party . tea that followed, with its abundance of cakes, fruit, sweets and soft drinks, also met with the approval of the juvuiilc guests. . Unusually mild weather conditions prevail for tho middle of May and, though growth has been checked, and trees arc fast losing their loaves, real winter is not being experienced. To-day has boon one of delightful warm sunshine. There is much activity in gardens, and mangolds are being harvested on the farms. Milk supplies show an almost daily decrease. Cmsiderable quantities of fertiliser have been distributed in this district during recent weeks.
