PAHIATUA.

The members of tlio Paliiatua Ladies’ Hockey Club held a meeting recently. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Patron, Dr. H. Paterson; president, Mr J. Rose; vice-presidents, 38 were elected; secretary, Mrs W. Hercock; treasurer, Mrs M. Galbraith; auditor, Mr R. Boagey; executive committee, Mesdames Galbraith, Thompson, Hercock, O’Brien, and Miss Clement; club captain, Mrs M. Galbraith; coach, Mr L. ICitching; delegate to Bush Ladies’ Hockey Association, to be appointed by the committee. It was decided that the club colours should be royal blue and white, to bo worn in j a manner to bo decided by the committee. The annual meeting of the Mangamutu Miniature Rifle Club was held last evening, Mr L. J. Heayns presiding. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr D. O’Brien; president, Mr L. Heayns; vice-presi-dents, Messrs A. Tait and J. D. Thomson; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. D. Thomson; club captain, Mr W. Fease.v; committee, Messrs H. Gardner, R. Keats, J. Buller and K. Priest. Mr Heayns paid a fine tribute to the work done by Mr J. D. Thomson, club secretary,' and said it was mostly due to his untiring efforts that the club’s affairs had been so capably conducted. Mr D. Webb, a student of the AVcllington Technical College, is spending the vacation with his parents, Mr and Mrs F. E. Webb, of Hukanui. Miss H. Horrox and Miss K. Dick leave next week on a trip to Samoa. They expect to be away about a month. Miss Elaine Checkley is in Morrinsville. Mrs J. Algie has left on a visit to friends at Taupiri. Mr Sefton Walsh is confined to his bed with a bad attack of pleurisy as a result of a chill contracted before he left Wellington for the Training College vacation. Miss Grace Austin, who is attached to the Gisborne dental clinic, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs R. C. Austin, of Tyndall Street.
