LUTTRELL BEATEN. SYDNEY, May 14. In the first of a series of elimination contests at the Newtown Stadium for the heavyweight championship of Australia, tho Mow Zealander, Val Luttrell, who did so well the night before at Leichhardt, was an easy victim tor Pat Appleton, who knocked out the New Zealander in the second round. KELLY’S EYE INJURY. SYDNEY, May 14. The boxer Leo Kelly is reported to be suffering from eye trouble, and the immediate prospects of a contest with tbe American Max Kosenbloom have been practically abandoned. A small metallic foreign body has been removed from Kelly's eye, and complications have now developed which will keep him in the, hands of a specialist for some weeks. , , . .. The stadium authorities may decide to match Rosenbloom with George Simpson, who twice defeated Kelly and who will arrive from America on Monday. ROSS-CARROLL BOUT. CHICAGO, May 13. Mr Charles Lucas, the Australian boxing promoter, states that the RossCarroll title fight will take place at Sydney on December 8. Ross will receive 45,000 dollars, plus 5000 dollars for expenses, with the promoters handling the taxes. Should Carroll win, Boss has agreed to fight a return bout within 90 days.
