AWAHURI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) AWAHURI, May 14.
A public meeting was held in the Awaluiri Hall on Wednesday night, Air Bond presiding to discuss the question of avoiding (he clashing of functions. Air J. Hume (Tc Arakina) agreed that, the proposal was a good one, but pointed out that there were many obstacles to be overcome. It would be necessary to get the co-operation of all the local committees in each district. Air Hume moved that the meeting formulate proposals along lines outlined by Air Bond. This was seconded by Air .Morris, of Newbury. Air Christian (Awahuri) thought that it would be almost impossible to dictate to local committees as to when they should hold functions. After a very lengthy discussion Air Baxter (Te Arakura) moved that the three halls represented attempt to form a central executive to control functions in the various districts. The motion was seconded by Air Ward (Awahiiri) and carried.
