(From Oun Oxvn Correspondent.) RONGOTEA, May 13,

A meeting of (lie jubilee committee was field in the board room on Tuesday evening to discuss proposals for _ bolding a picnic and school sports similar to the jubilee gathering at Sanson, last May. Delegates were present from Rangiotu,' Sanson, Glen Oroua, Kopanc, Clydesdale and Rongotea, also from the To Kawau Basketball Association. An apology' was received from Oroua Downs, with an offer to support any ncticn taken. Mr A. N. Morcom was elected to the chair. In b:s opening statement the chairman suggested that it would he advisable to hold the sports this year with school football and basketball competitions, as it would retain public interest,, and the committee could emtinuo in office and be ready to take charge of the gala day when the Coronation festivities came round next year. Messrs A. K. Drew and J. Ilill supported this view. Other delegates stated that they were under instructions from their respective committees not to support the movement md on being jiut to tho vote it was decided not to hold a sports day this year. Owing to the disbanding of the committee, trophies held by them, which were donated by Messrs C. Ciochetto and J. Ilill for annual competition between M-rnawatu school teams, will be returned to the donors.

The death has occurred at Invercargill of a former Itongotea resident, Mr Robert McKay, who was well-known and much respected. Mr A. McKay, of Rongotea, loft yesterday for the south to attend tho funeral of his late brother. Mr J. Clark, of Hi iiterYillo, is a visitor to Rongotea. A feature of the local stock sale to-day was the slackness of bidding for the pigs that were offered for sal6, 3s bids being accepted for animals that in the spring would bring 17s to 20s each.
