PENSION SCHEMES.
AUSTRALIAN RECIPROCITY. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 14, “There’s been a lot of half-hearted-ness shown in the negotiations attempted,” said the Pensions Alinister (Hon. W. E. Parry), commenting on the Canberra cablegram received yesterday regarding reciprocal pensions. “I feel that if we can press the Australian Government in the right way, and show how beneficial the legislation would be to both countries, something might be done.” Air Parry recalled that the late Mr Andrew Fisher (Commonwealth Prime Minister) had favoured a reciprocal scheme with New Zealand. Air Parry said he would lose no time in bringing tbe matter up again to see if some workable arrangement could not be readied. Time and again Australia had been asked to pass similar reciprocal pensions legislation to that in New Zealand, but always the matter seemed to be shelved.
