THE COMPETITIONS

NEARING THE CONCLUSION. LAST NIGHT’S AWARDS. A programme of generous proportions was provided at the Opera House, last evening, for the penultimate night of the Manawatu Competitions Society’s 1936 festival. Altogether 28 classes were presented to the judges, and the diversity of the entertainment provided a pleasant evening’s concert fare. During the week’s activities, which wlil conclude with a demonstration concert to-night, a very high standard has been set, and this was well maintained hist night. All of the items were presented in the Opera House itself and patrons were not required to divide their attention between that building and the Municipal Hall. A large number of the visitors to the city for the Girls’ Education week were in the audience. The following are tlie awards which were made yesterday afternoon and last evening:— DANCING.
