(From Our Own Correspondent.) APITI, April 8. Rev. R, Patehett and Mrs Patchctt left Apiti on Tuesday and will spend a short holiday at Carterton before proceeding to Mr Patchott’s new charge at Patea. Mr G. 11. Gubbins, headmaster of the Apiti School, has accepted a position as first assistant at the Maugapapa School, Gisborne. Mr and Mrs Gubbins. and their •daughter will probably leave Apiti at the end of this school term. Mro \V. Hooper and her two children, of Feilding, arc at present staying with Mr and Mrs R. Hooper. Mr J. Swift, accompanied by his brother, Mr Stuart Swift, left by the Wanganella for a trip to Australia. ' The health stamp committee held its final meeting recently. Mr R. C. Martin was appointed secretary to attend to any business or correspondence that may be necessary.

A meeting to discuss the celebration of tho Apiti district jubilee, convened by Messrs E. N. Cummerfield, W. J. Vilcs, W. McKay, G. Malcolm and R. V. Stewart, was hold on a recent evening. It was decided to celebrate the occasion by a jubilee dinner, followed by a ball. Mr Cummerfield was elected patron, Mr Stewart president, Mr M. MclCay secretary, with those present as tho general committee. A sub-committee, coiUprisjng the patron, president, secretary and Messrs A. R. McNac and W. Malone was appointed to go through tho list of names. Mrs Bclk (Feilding) read a letter from Mr Harry Millar which described tho land ballot of 1886. The Apiti School ex-pupils’ delegates decided to forgo tho. annual reunion in order to co-operate with the district jubilee celebrations. As the cx-pupils committee had arranged for an orchestra, the jubilee committed decided to avail themselves of the engagement. The quarterly meeting of the Methodist Church was hold recently, representatives being present from Rangiwahia and Ruahinc. The meeting was conducted by Rev. A. N, Scotter (Palmerston North), who gave an interesting report on the recent Methodist Conference. Routine business was conducted, tho financial statement revealing a satisfactory position. After the meeting some 30 church members gathered at tho parsonage and were entertained at afternoon tea by tBo Apiti ladies. On behalf of the Apiti congregation, Mr Scotter eulogised tho services of Rev. Mr Patehett and Mrs Patehett during their term in Apiti, and while regretting their departure wished them happiness in tho future and asked them to accept a cheque as a small token of the esteem felt for them by tho Apiti Church folk. Both Mr and Mrs Patchctt replied expressing their thanks.
