TIAKITAHUNA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) TIAKITAHUNA, April 10. There was a large congregation at the harvest thanksgiving service held on Sunday afternoon. Rev. 11. 11. Barton, M.A., Moderator of the Prosbytorian Church, conducted the service, while also present were Rev. J. Hubbard and Rev. W. J. Berry. An abundance of produce and flowors had been artistically arranged, on the stage. Special hymns and anthems were rendered by a combined choir from Rangiotu and Tiakituhuna. On Monday evening a social was held, when tho sale ! of produce took place. Items were given ' 1 by Miss I. Morley (recitations) and Messrs ; I. Fraser and D. Rowland (vocal duets). ’ I Supper was served by lady members. ’I On Wednesday afternoon the monthly ; i meeting of the Women’s Institute was I hold, Mrs D. Rowland presiding over a ' | large attendance of' members. AP°l°sies for absence were received from Mrs Walker ■ and Miss M. Rowland. Correspondence was road and discussed. Miss E. McEwen ■ w as appointed delegate to attend the an- \ ual conference at Dunedin. Fnal arrange--1 inents were made for the birthday evening 1 to bo held at tho end of this month. An 1 interesting demonstration on pottery was ' g : ven by Mrs Bowler Watson, samples ! of her finished work being much admired. Mrs Webster, of Palmerston North, gave i a practical demonstration on stage makc- : up, which ' proved interesting, especially , to members of the Drama G'ircle. A vote of thanks was extended to Mosdumes Watson and Webster. The competition for 'the best jar of jelly was kindly judged ' by Mrs D. Buchanan, who placed tlyj win- ’ ners as follow:—Miss D. Bannister 1, l Mrs W. McEwen 2, Mrs C. Croucher 3. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, i Mrs Hawko and Misses L. Ilearsey and I. Fell. • There was a fa'r attendance at the opening of a series of euchre parties on Wednesday evening. Winners of the prizes were ■ Mrs Lover 1, Mrs Igglesdan 2; men, I. , i Rowland 1, M. Richardson 2. 1 Mr Roy Cave, of North Auckland, has I been the guest of Mr and Mrs F. Yautier. ■ Coporal W. Weddell and Troopers S. [Rowland and I. Parkinson are at present - i n camp at Dannevirke. Mr Roger Walker, ■ of Plimmorton, lias been staying with Mr 1 and Mrs W. Rowland.
