RIFLE SHOOTING.
SOUTH ISLAND MEETING. Per Press Association. NELSON, April 11 The South Island rifle championship meeting opened at the Seabourne range yesterday, competitors attending from the West Coast, Timaru, Wellington ancl Nelson districts. Five matches were fired and at the end of the day’s shootinir W. N. Masefield (Blenheim) led for the aggregate with 278. B. B. Jones (Nelson) was next with 273, followed by N. Perkins (Westport) 272, I. Nicholls (Wtwrau) 271, J. Vitetta (Nelson) 269, W. H. West (Blenheim) 268, and J. Kcoghan (Westport)- 268. Though many riflemen recorded'high scores, the only two possibles were scored by B. B. Jones (Nelson) and A. Tombs (Blenheim), both at 300 yards.
