GOLF TOURNEY.

EASTER CHAMPIONSHIP. PLAY AT HOKOWHITU. Exceptionally mild and calm autumn conditions —the best for years—prevailed lor the opening, to-day, of the Manawatu Golf Club’s Easter tournament. The weather was warm and sunny, and there was hardly a breath of wind. The Hokowhitu course was in perfect order and playing fast, and with a large field of competitors eh-, •raged the circumstances were entirely favourable for the fixture, which is .under the efficient control of the secretary (Mr K. G. Chamberlain). The starter is the club’s professional (Mr J. R. Galloway). The first qualifying round for tlie Manawatu Easter Handicap (McHardy Cup) was played this morning, and the second round was in progress this afternoon. Stroke handicaps were conducted in conjunction with each, besides the teams match this afternoon. Finals in the championship and special flight tournament are scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
