GISBORNE BEAT ST. PATRICK’S. (By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) GISBORNE, April 11. Perfect weather prevails for the opening of the Spillaue Cup Rugby contest. Gisborne Celtic beat St. .Patrick’s, Palmerston North, 19—8, height and weight being the deciding features. There was much forward play. _ ■ Fitzpatrick scored a try which Richards converted, and a penalty added the remaining points. Lack ot possession handicapped the St. Patrick’s backs.
Hastings Celtic beat Wanganui, 27—3.
