(From Our Own Correspondent.) MAKINO, April 8
Their wedding day approaching, an enjoyable kitchen evening was tendered Miss Mabel Simpson and Mr W. Osborne by > their many friends at the Makino Hall this evening. Games, competitions and dancing were competition winners being: Passing the parcel, Miss M. Simpson and Mr W. Osborne; public notices, Miss L. Baker; Monte Carlo waltz, Miss J. Simpson and partner; spot waltz. Miss I. Amer and Mr R. Hills. Miss Jean Moray de--1 lighted the audience with a monologue entitled ‘‘The Safety Pin.” Music for dancing was supplied by a Feilding musician, and Mr Richie played extras on his accordeon. Supper was served by the ladies of the district, after which Mr W. P. Bickers, on behalf of those present, extended to the guests of honour best , wishes for the future and asked them to accept the numerous parcels. Mr Osborne returned thanks on behalf of Miss Simpson and himself. Mrs W. P. Bickers is expecting her sister and a party of friends from New Plymouth for the Easter holidays. Mr and Mrs B. Thurston returned on Tuesday after an enjoyable motor tour of , the East Cpast district. They were accompanied by Mrs J W Thurston, Spur Road, Colyton. Mr and Mrs E. C. Reid and family, are Raetihi visitors to Makino and Palmerston North, for the Easter holidays. Miss ' Ngaire Cuming is leaving during the weekend for Wellington to spend the. holidays. She will be the guest of Mrs D. O’Keefe, Lower Hutt. Miss Joan Bates is visiting Wanganui. Mr Errol Muir is a Wellington visitor to Makino for the Easter holidays, and will be the guest of Mrs R. Reid.
