(From Our Own Correspondent.) SANSON, April 9. The monthly meeting of the Sanson Women’s Institute was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening, when Mrs A. K. Drew presided.' Before proceeding with the busings:; :: vote of sympathy was accorded to Mrs C. B. Tostevin in her bereavement. The delegates to the annual council meeting of the Northern Wellington Federation were decided upon, Mrs J. Bowater and Miss G. Adams being appointed. Mrs J. Masters and Mrs W. J. Rowan wore appointed institute representatives in connection with the meeting with reference to the Sarah Anno Rhodes Scholarship in home science. The president took the opportunity Gf congratulating the drama circle on their success at the drama competition recently held. They had brought much credit to the institute by their fine performance. It was decided that the flower show which is to bo hold soon be extended to the evening with a social and dance. An invitation was received from tho Parewanui Institute to attend thoir birthday function. A game, arranged by Miss J. Poattio and Miss M. MacFarlane, caused much interest. A cake competition was won by Miss J. Poattie and the scone competition was won by: Seniors, Mrs F. Grace 1, Mrs T. Williams 2; juniors, Mias Corrigan 1, Miss G. Adams 2. The winners of the competition for the best oven cloth wore: Seniors, Mrs C. E. J. Eglinton 1, Mrs A. Adams 2. Mrs Nairn 3; juniors, Mis 3 J. Peattie 1, Miss M. MacFnrlano and Miss G. Adams, equal, 2. The annual moeting of the Sandon Table Tennis Club was held on Wednesday evening, when Mr A. Nesbit presided. The report and balance-sheet wore adopted. Mr E. J. Bowater, in speaking to tho report, congratulated the members and the officials on tho sound position thov were in. Mr E. Butler briefly replied ana said the result was largely due to tho excellent co-opera-tion of the members. Tho election of ficers resulted as follows: —Patron, Air E. Wilcook; president, Mr A. Matthews; vicepresidents, Messrs E. Dwyer, R. Nicol, J. Masters, T. Williams, E. J. Bowater, K. Pearce, K. George, and A. Nosbit; secretary and treasurer, Mr E. N. Butler; club captain, Mr Goorge Williams; vicecaptain, Mr R. Meyer; executive committee, Messrs C. Oppatt, Iv. Lumsdon, F. Meyer, M. Cockburn and Misses G. Sanson and J. Butler; chaperones, Mosdames E. N, Butler, E. J. Davey and Miss G. Sanson; selectors and handicappors, the captain, vico-eaptain and Mr Ken Lumsdon; auditor, Mr S. L. Kent; custodians, left in the hands of the captain and vice-captain to appoint two each week; social committee, all the ladv members, and Messrs O. Tong, IC. Lumsdon. M. Cockburn, R. Bishop, R. Meyer. J. Harris, R. Lumsdon, G. Osborne, F. Mover. C. Oppatt and A. Nesbit : bon. members for the year, Messrs E. Wileork and E. Butler and Airs E. J. Davey. The subscription was fixed the same as last year’s. The official opening of the club was sot down for April 24. Tho emestion of affiliation with the Manawatu Table Tennis Association was discussed. Members were of opinion uKit the main obstacle in the way was transport, and a motion that the club afliliato was lost. Ine question of joining the r lo TCawau Association was also discussed., and it was decided to continue the competitions carried on last year and not affiliate with any association. The secretory was instructed to wait on the Park Board with reference to lighting arranffcmonts. * Mr Iv. George donated a trophy for the most improved player for tho season, and Messrs C. Oppatt, F. Meyer, TC. Lumsdon and A. Matthews donated buttons for weekly competitions. A vote of thanks was accorded these gentlemen. A voto of thanks was accorded the retiring president (Mr A. Nesbit) for his services during the;.' pa sfc two >«cars, and to the members who had been good enough to assist, the club by providing transport. Mr E. Davey, junr., is spending < the Easter vacation with his parents, and is accompanied by Mr L. Andrew. Mr A. Tv. Drew left on Thursday by air-liner for Blenheim, where he intends to compete in the annual howling tournament. Miss J. M. Pcattio is spending Easter with Tier parents at Wanganui. «Messrs W. J. Jenkins and A. Stevenson intend to compete in the rifle shooting championship at Napier. Misses A. and E. Parker, who have been staying with Mr and Mrs W. H. Oppatt, havo returned to f heir home in Auckland. Mr and .Mr* G. Drew are staying with Mr and Mrs H. Smart at Raujnni. Mr and Mrs XV. Aiken will spend tho holidavs with friends in Palmerston North. Mr D. Grace is on holiday at Raetihi, were he is staying with his sister, Mrs F. Harris. Miss M. MacFarlant is spending Easter with her parents at Levin.
