GIFT EVENING AT KAIRANGA

(From Our Own Correspondent.) KAIRANGA, April 7. A party was held at the local hall last night, the occasion .being a gift evening for Miss D. Capp and Mr B. Crosby, whoso marriage tabes place at an early date. About 250 residents and friends spent a pleasant time dancing to music supplied ■by Miss Z. Loamy and Air Bramwoll. Items were given by Airs J. Russell (songs) Mr A. Pedersen (musical monolgues), Air O. Burmeister and Bernie Neill (recitations). Novelty dances were won as follow: Lucky .spot. Miss J. Green and Air A. Dorn: Alonte Carlo, Miss Needham and Air 11. R. Green. After supper had been handed round. Air A. R. Green called on the guests ct honour to accept the numerous parcels, which made a pleasing display of gifts, showing the esteem in which the guests are held. Air Green conveyed good wishes-, for their married life. All- A. R. Buchanan, an old friend of the Capp family, also spoke a few words. Air 11. Turner, on behalf cf the Tennis Club, made a presentation of a ease of silver salad servers from the club members. Airs P. Loamy president, of the Women’s Institute, presented' Aliss Lapp with an electric iron from the members, wishing her every happinnrs in her new home, and on he‘half of the Drama Club a cup, saucer and plate were presented. Air Crosby conveyed the thanks of Aliss Capp and himself. •Miss Capp’s dress was of pink velvet and others present wore: Alesdames L. Capp (Wanganui),..wine lace; E. Conway, black crepc-de-ehinc; W.
