(From Our Own Correspondent.)) OTAKI, April 1. Mrs and Mrs F. S. Simcox have left on a tour of the north. Mrs G. Evans left on Saturday for the South Island, on holiday. Mr Armitage, who is at present in hospital in Wellington, is reported to be making good progress. Mr and Mrs Harry Jacob and family will leave on Thursday on a motor tour to Rotorua. Mr W.- Fairley, who recently dislocated his shoulder, and as a result has been in the Wellington Hospital, will enter the institution for a further operation, Mrs W. Kendrick has donated a cake for competition, the funds raised to be given to a very doserving case in which many residents are interested. Mr' G. Ren wick and a gang of men on Friday completed part of the drainage work in the vicinity of the Otaki River, The Rangiuru creek, which has been a bone of contention for some, time, has now been completely opened and the flow of water into the river should have a very beneficial clfect on lands along the boundary'. A narrow escape from serious accident occurred last evening when Mr M. Baker’s taxi was capsized, a car from the north colliding with it as it emerged from the railway station road on to the main road. The taxi was turned over, but the driver Mr B. Baker, was not injured. A lady passenger, Miss Rachel, of the State School staff, was badly - shaken, and is suffering from shock and cuts. She received medical attention.
