(From Our Own Correspondent.) APITI, March 16. The Apiti School roll now numbers 85 pupils. If the roll number reaches 86 the oeliool Committee can claim an extra teacher to assist tho teaching staff of two. Air A. E. London, of Kimbolton, has lonatcd a silver rose bowl for competiion at the Apiti sheep dog trials. A chalenge cup has also been donated by Air johnston. Mr and Mrs L. Alartin are Apiti visitors ,o Wellington. Aliss Y. Signal is home igain after a fortnight spent in Welling,on. Airs A. R. Bartlett, of Oroua Valley, is at present on a holiday visit to Napier. .\lrs Athol Viles, of Alartin Block, is visiting- her mother, Mrs Haswell, in Wcllingon. Airs H. Osborne, of Feilding, has seen visiting Air and Airs W. AlcKav. The Apiti branch of tho Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union held the Alarch neeting last week, Mrs H. L. Osborne prodding over a good attendance. An apology or absence was received from Airs A. Viles. Aire A. R. AlcNae gave an excellent report on the recent provincial council meeting at which she and Aim Osborne represented the Apiti branch. The speaker nentioned that during the past year 594 lousekeoping positions had been supplied by the Women’s Division throughout New Zealand. There was much discussion about the forthcoming educational week for girls. The Apiti branch will send one girl and members wero asked to send in nominations. A donation is to be made to the community' chest fund. It was suggested that a donation be made to the AlcGregor Memorial Fund. Alembcrs agreed and a donation will be sent after the annual meeting. Mcsdames W. McKay and Alclntyre will represent the Women’s Division at the Kimbolton meeting regarding the transfer of the district nurse. Alesdames Hocking and Lodge, of the Kimbolton-Kiwitea branch, will act as tellers at the annual meeting. Members were the guests of the president, Mrs H. L. Osborne, at afternoon tea and the hostess,was accorded a vote of thanks for her hospitality. A novel competition was introduced and the winners were Airs C. Al. Stanley 1, Airs L. Guy 2. The thought for the month was read by All’s J. Alartin.
