Stevenson) 3550. A concert was given at the Cosy Theatre on Friday evening for the A. and P. candidate. The ontirc programme was provided by a troupe of over 40 Alaoris under the leadership of Air AVi- Duncan (Damicvirke). Ihe hall was eonuortably full. At the last meeting of the AYoodvillo Borough Council a letter was received from tho defence area officer with regard to an account for repairs to the flagpole at the Drill Hall, which had been forwarded Inpayment. It was considered that the repairs were not necessary from the department’s viewpoint, as the "AVoodvillo station was not entitled to fly a flag, and the suggestion was advanced that the council should pay the account. The Aiayor (Air H._ 11.l 1 . Horne) said the circumstances had been placed before tho area officer. The repairs had been ordered when arrangements were in hand for suitable recognition to be given to the late King’s funeral. Crs Bly and Sullivan moved that the officer bo asked to reconsider his decision. The Aiayor commented that the residents of Woodvillc had built the present hall, with tho assistance of a Government subsidy. The town had spent hundreds of pounds on the hall and it should be maintained in a better state. Other councillors concurred. The motion was carried.
At the monthly, meeting of the Danncvirke Hospital Beard, Air L. Stein presided. An application was received from the Dannevirko Racing Club for the use of the board’s ambulance at the club’s races at Woodvillc on April 29 and 30. —Granted.
